FloatSync: Mobile Material Separation Units Scaling Plastic Recycling in Remote Regions
FloatSync is a mechanical recycling startup addressing plastic pollution by developing a compact, decentralised system that separates six types of plastic materials. Designed to fit within a 20-foot container, this mobile solution enables efficient recycling in remote areas, transforming plastic waste into resellable goods. The company has built a successful laboratory prototype and is preparing for pilot tests in Singapore & Indonesia to trial the sorting of ocean-recovered plastic. FloatSync aims to bridge the gap between local communities, NGOs, and industrial facilities, offering a plug-and-play model that integrates into existing recycling and waste management processes or operates independently in areas lacking infrastructure.
