Greenhouse growers, Lambda's end customers, are paid by weight of produce and suffer from low margins of circa 5%, though on bad years they barely break even.
Lambda increases crop yields by 9% by providing more red light to plants for optimal photosynthesis. Lambda's product is an active spray coating used on the outside of a greenhouse, that can convert and diffuse sunlight. We can passively increase a grower's yield without any energy input, electrically or from the growers.
Increased yields and decreased costs of greenhouses will help reduce reliance on imported vegetables, increase food security and improve consumer access to locally grown produce. With the poorest communities being affected the most by the rising costs of fresh food, our technology will reduce costs enabling more access to NHS recommended nutrition. UN Global goals focus on Zero Hunger by providing lower-cost more accessible (locally produced) food as a consequence of decreased electricity use.
