Shetland Space Centre Ltd t/a Saxavord UK Spaceport

As the UK and Western Europe's first licensed vertical launch spaceport, we offer a pathway to orbit for small satellites.

SaxaVord Spaceport is ready for launch and is actively working with a range of clients, including RFA, HyImpulse and Lockheed Martin/ABL Systems, towards first countdown in the second half of 2024. We became the UK and Western Europe's first licensed spaceport in December 2023 when the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) approved our facility at Lamba Ness in Unst, the most northerly tip of the United Kingdom.

We have planning permission to launch up to 30 small rockets per year into polar and sun-synchronous low earth orbits, and our site is at an advanced stage of construction. When complete, there will be three separate launch pads and an integration hangar.

We harness our can-do island culture and mindset to offer our clients a bespoke, all-encompassing service.
