UNDO spreads crushed silicate rock, such as basalt, on agricultural land, locking away CO₂ for 100,000+ years while improving soil fertility, food security and the health of our oceans. UNDO accelerates the natural rock weathering process by vastly increasing the exposed surface area of the rock to chemical reactions with rain, and therefore increasing its contact with CO₂.
Part of Stripe’s 2021 Climate Portfolio and Microsoft's first enhanced rock weathering partner, UNDO partners with quarries, local contractors, landowners, environmental authorities and beyond to carry out its operations and bring carbon removal capability and its co-benefits to communities.
In the UK, UNDO's home base, the rock is an existing aggregate product of the mining and quarrying industry, so no additional energy is required to procure it. The rock is spread through local contractors using existing agricultural infrastructure, creating jobs and keeping money in rural communities it operates in.
