Phasecraft designs quantum algorithms for the imperfect quantum computers of today, accelerating practical quantum advantage from decades to mere years away. Its algorithms are based on novel insights from theoretical physics and computer science and deep understanding of quantum hardware. Phasecraft works with quantum hardware companies, including Google, IBM and Rigetti, as well as industry partners such as Johnson Matthey, Roche, and BT, to solve problems in materials discovery, molecular simulation and optimisation.
Phasecraft’s early focus is on applying these algorithms to the discovery of new materials crucial to the clean energy transition. Classical computing fails to capture many of these materials’ fundamental features, meaning we rely on experimental discovery which can take decades. Quantum promises to accelerate the entire process by capturing these features computationally, thus reducing the number of experiments required and drastically increasing the variety of material combinations which can be tested for any given use case.
